1. Albert Butler in court for overtaking and blocking ambulance

Slough Observer:

A 'SENSELESS' driver who intentionally overtook and blocked an ambulance while it responded to an emergency has pleaded guilty.

Albert Butler, of Windermere Road, Reading, admitted intentionally trying to slow down the emergency vehicle despite it activating sirens along the A4 Bath Road, Reading.

Reading Crown Court heard how paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service were making their way to an incident in Maidenhead where a man had collapsed on November 2.

2. Flying Scotsman rolls through Berkshire in centenary celebrations

Slough Observer:

The iconic Steam Locomotive – The Flying Scotsman will be rolling through Berkshire next year in celebration of its 100th birthday.

Organised by the National Railway Museum, The Railway Touring Company is running a series of mainline steam tours.

This first will run as ‘The Cardiff Express’ on Wednesday, June 7, and on Wednesday, June 21 as ‘The Salisbury Express’.

3. Slough's controversial e-scooter trial to be paused

Slough Observer:

SLOUGH’S controversial e-scooter trial is to be paused later this month – but the bright orange e-scooters could make a comeback.

The council has announced it was unable to extend its contract with Neuron Mobility UK without opening it up to tender.

The trial is set to end on November 30, but the local authority said because the scheme is ‘very successful and popular with residents and commuters’ the e-scooters will only be removed for now and will be looking at the possibility of restarting the scheme.

4. Remembrance Day memorial events and services in Berkshire 2022

Slough Observer:

Berkshire will pay its respects and remember the sacrifices of servicemen and women in a two-minute silence this Remembrance Day.

Observed every year since 1919, Remembrance or Armistice Day is marked on the anniversary of the end of World War I on November 11.

Remembrance Sunday falls on the second Sunday of November which means that it will be observed on November 13.

5. Windsor: The Corner House staff 'brave the shave' for cancer

Slough Observer:

Pub staff in Windsor have gone bald for charity to raise money for cancer support.

The Corner House Pub in Windsor took part in 'brave the shave' as part of a charity fundraiser for Macmillan Cancer Support on Monday, November 7.

With an original target of £1500, the staff set out fundraising thresholds as to when members would undergo the trim.
