McDonald's has recently purchased their drive-thru restaurant on the Bath Road in a £3.5 million deal.

Last Wednesday (January 11) the Royal London Mutual Insurance Society Limited sold the retail park to SEGRO for £120.25million.

In the sale, it was revealed that McDonald's had snapped up their drive-thru branch which has been operating for over 15 years.

Since opening it has made history, exchanging owners and for eight years it was under the care of the Crown Estate from 2008 to 2016.

McDonald's now owns the unit allowing them greater freedom for development.

This means they can make planning applications without express permission from the retail park owner.

The Observer reached out to McDonald's for comment about the purchase of the land.

A McDonald’s Spokesperson said: “At McDonald’s, we remain committed to the communities we serve, and we are excited to have progressed with this opportunity with Bath Road Retail Park in Slough.

"Later this year we hope to further invest in the restaurant through our ambitious Convenience of the Future refurbishment works which will create a more enjoyable experience for our customers, delivery partners and restaurant team.”

Last year McDonald's Prince of Wales restaurant on Windsor Road underwent the new refurbishment which aims to deliver a 'better customer experience'.
