TWO years ago Scott Young would have laughed if you told him that Chalvey Sports would be playing an Hellenic Premier Division club.

But, that is exactly what they will do this Saturday having been drawn away to Brimscombe & Thrupp in the Hellenic Challenge Cup third round (3pm).

For Chalvey, it will be a first-ever competitive clash with a top Hellenic side and they are keen to relish the moment, taking a coach load of fans to The Meadow for extra vocal support.

They could not be in better form ahead of the tie, unbeaten and top of Division Two East after a 5-1 win at Stokenchurch on Saturday, but Young knows Sports will go us the underdogs.

“Brimscombe have been in the Premier Division for a while now and are established members of it,” he told the Observer.

“It’s an exciting trip and we’ve never played a team at that high a level. It’s a dream draw and we will give it a really good go.

“They have scored 17 goals in their last three games so we’re under no illusions that it will be a very difficult game, but one to look forward to.

“We’re going to take a coach and make a day of it because we have nothing to lose.

“The lads are going to play full of confidence and if we take that into the game I’m sure we will give a good account of ourselves.

“We don’t know their strengths but know they’re able to train a couple of times a week.

“It’s going to be very hard but we’re looking forward to it and the messages of support we’ve had on Twitter are fantastic.

“Our focus is still on winning the league because or chances of lifting the Challenge Cup is slim due to the Premier Division sides still in it.

“These games are just a bonus but an indicator into how well we are playing.

“I have to say Brimscombe are class as a club. They’ve even sent an e-mail to ask what we would like them to stock the bar up with!”

Chalvey warmed up for the cup tie with a 5-1 home win against Stokenchurch with goals from Konnor Saunders, Richard Jeffrey, Sean Robinson and a Lee Patterson double.

“We were four goals up at half-time and it was comfortable again to be honest,” said Young. “Three of the goals came from corners and both centre backs scored.

"If we took all the chances we created there would have been more goals before the break.

“We made some changes in the second-half which seemed to upset our rhythm and flow, and Stokenchurch deserved their goal for the chances they created."
