“The last thing we need is another Conservative in charge.”

That’s what Slough’s Labour MP Tanmanjeet Singh Dhesi said as Liz Truss announces she is stepping down as prime minister after 44 days in the top role – making her the shortest-serving prime minister in UK history.

Ms Truss said she could not deliver the mandate on which she was elected to do. Her premiership was in turmoil since her mini budget rocked the markets, resulting in major u-turns.

2. Man attacks two with axe in Slough and threatens to kill

A man attacked two others with an axe and threatened to kill them in Slough, according to police.

The attack occurred in Willoughby Road on Monday (October 17), Thames Valley Police said.

In connection with the incident, a 35-year-old man from Middlesex has been charged with two counts of assault by beating, and one count each of possession of a bladed article and threats to kill.

3. Slough Fest celebrates local talent in town centre

Slough Fest saw a large turn out last weekend, with crowds turning up to support upcoming artists and musicians.

Organised by Love Music Hate Violence and Slough Bid, the festival took place on Saturday, October 15 on Slough High Street.

The event saw rappers, DJs, drummers and more take to the stage from 11:30pm to 5:30pm.

4. Windsor & Maidenhead bus routes to temporarily change

POPULAR bus routes across the Royal Borough will be temporarily changed to reflect changing passenger behaviours.

These interim changes, which include new timings and routes, will affect Thames Valley Buses, White Bus, and Bear Buses from Sunday, October 30.

The council said these changes are temporary while it works with operators and communities to establish a longer-term solution for the bus network from next April that reflects changing traveller habits.

5. Filming crews spotted in Windsor for Netflix Heartstopper

Netflix's Heartstopper has started filming with Windsor residents reporting sightings of the film crew.

The camera crews were spotted down St Marks Road outside the series' lead protagonist Charlie's house, played by Joe Locke.

Residents took to social media to share the sighting, having been told by the crew that they were filming a Netflix comedy drama.
